NEWS - PEOPLE IN THE NEWS Mark Cutifani Anglo American has appointed current AngloGold Ashanti CEO Mark Cutifani its new CEO. AngloGold Chairman Tito Mboweni said the group has initiated a formal search for a replacement but, in the interim, after Cutifani departs, the group has asked current CFO Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan and Executive Vice President Business & Technical Development Tony O'Neill to act as joint interim chief executives. Guyana Frontier Mining Corp. has appointed Evangelos (Gelly) Gnissios president and CEO. Warren Stanyer has been terminated as CEO and has resigned from the board of directors. The company also announced that Stephen Wallace has resigned vice president of exploration. Bumi plc recently announced that Nathaniel Rothschild will step down as CEO and will serve as a non-independent, non-executive director. He will be succeeded by Nick von Schirnding. Fortescue Metals Group Ltd. has appointed David Woodall director of operations. Allied Nevada Gold Corp. has appointed Randy Buffington executive vice president and COO. Oracle Mining Corp. has appointed Rod Campbell president. Olympic Steel, Inc. recently announced several promotions: Richard A. Manson has been promoted to vice president and treasurer; John Mooney has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president and general manager-Mid States; and Michelle Pearson-Casey has been promoted to director of human resources.
