SUPPLIERS REPORT progress across the entire site," said Roz Buick, vice president and general manager of Trimble's Heavy Civil Construction Division. "LOADRITE weighing systems expand the richness of the Connected Site information we collect from machines and complements the productivity and reporting capabilities we already provide our customers." ABB Wins $10-million Mine Hoist System Order Power and automation technology supplier ABB reported that it was awarded a contract to supply a mine hoist system to the Zarya mine of Kryvbaszalizrudkom JSC in Ukraine. The hoist will lift ore from a depth of 1,717 m in 50-ton skips at a speed of 12 m/s. The order consists of a complete mine hoist system with hydraulic disc brakes, two 3,700-MW overhung synchronous motors and an ACS6000 MV drive inverter, power transformers, medium and low voltage switchgears, and a System 800xA control and monitoring control system incorporating underground control equipment, shaft alarm, an operator control panel, and a combined operator and engineering station. A complete ABB mine hoist system including mechanical, electric drive and control equipment has been in operation at Zarya since 1960 without any modifications. "This is not the first time we have chosen ABB equipment," said Fedir Karamanyts, CEO of JSC Kryvbaszalizrudkom. "In 2010, the plant started to use a modern electric drive, a control and monitoring system, as well as disc brakes supplied by ABB with the hoist installed at the Lenin mine. With the launch of this hoist system, the plant is now able to hoist barren rock by increasing payload capacity to 35 tons and the speed to 14 m/s, while lowering hoisting energy consumption." ABB's Swedish branch will be the main contractor for the project, with certain portions of the project conducted by ABB's local engineering and service centers in Ukraine as well as with ABB Ukrainian business partners. BHP Billiton Iron Awards Wear Liner Contract to CME Crushing & Mining Equipment (CME) announced that it has been awarded a 10year contract to supply wear liners to BHP Billiton Iron Ore's (BHPIO) Pilbara sites in Western Australia. In addition, CME said it has been awarded the sole contract to conduct wear management advisory services www.e-mj.com Perth, Australia-based CME will supply wear liners, such as the installation shown here, under a long-term contract from BHP Billiton Iron Ore. Under a separate contract, the company also will provide wear management advisory services for all of BHP Billiton's Pilbara sites. for all sites. Both contracts will run independently and will renew year-on-year dependent on achievement of key performance targets. The contract for wear liners involves supply of CME's wear products lineup, which includes a range of overlay wear plate, Q&T; wear plate, NiHard and ceramic liners, all of which can be customized to suit any application. The company said the contract for wear management advisory services comprises on-site chute inspections and condition reporting, wear liners inventory management, installation and design consultation, wear materials testing, engineering support, and training. Gordon Fogwill, CME's CEO, said, "Continuous improvement and investment in technology, coupled with an industry leading range of wear products has positioned CME at the forefront of materials processing advancements and enabled globally innovative solutions to be tailored to our clients requirements." Mike Allen, CME's sales manager for Western and South Australia, said, "Key to CME's growth has been our ability to provide a complete service offering, engineering support and solutions, coupled with our innovation capability. The ability to supply specialized and dedicated teams of on-site field service technicians in unison with innovative modeling software such as ChuteVision and HopperVision has allowed CME to provide wear simulation, benchmarking, performance monitoring and estimates to deliver further improvements and added value to our clients." Recycled Products Provider Gets Mine Roof Support Order Axion International Holdings, a leader in recycled plastic and plastic composite technologies used to produce Ecotrax rail ties and Struxure building products, announced its Struxure 100% recycled products are drawing interest from the mining industry. "Our Ecotrax rail ties have already been in track testing in Chile with one of the largest mining companies in the world. With a recent order for roof supports, we are expanding our product offerings into the mining industry. Opening new end use markets for our proprietary products is a key part of our growth strategy," said Axion President and CEO Steve Silverman.
