In addition to batch processing, EZ-ID with the SpecMIN library now includes en- hanced access to mineral information and bibliography features. It includes an exten- sive and dynamic library of nearly 4,000 spectra of common and rare species. In addition to the spectra, EZ-ID now provides one-click access for each mineral to infor- mation on physical properties, occurrences, chemistry (including formulas), and associ- ations. EZ-ID software, according to the company, delivers real-time mineral identi- fication for outcrops, in pits, with hand samples, and is especially useful in fast and accurate core logging applications. www.spectralevolution.com Low-cost Level Gauge for Tank Applications ABB's Measurement Products' business has developed an economical magnetic liquid level gauge—the Econolev LMG100, in- tended to provide an inexpensive alternative to traditional exposed glass level gauges. Suggested applications include diesel stor- age tanks, water treatment tanks and most other small tanks for liquids. The gauge has a simple, standard configuration consisting of an all-stainless steel chamber and a mag- netic float with an orange shuttle indicator. The shuttle rides in a clear Lexan tube alongside a stainless steel scale. The gauge is rated to 275 psi at 200°F and has 1-in. FNPT side process connections. Maximum measuring length is 15 ft. Options include 316SS threaded end caps, magnetically actuated level switches, and a magnetostric- tive level transmitter. An AT600 transmitter can be mounted directly to the gauge to allow continuous level measurement trans- mission via a 4-20 mA signal. www.abb.us/measurement Cloud-based Asset Management for Miners Ventyx recently announced availability of its asset management software for the first time as a software as a service (SaaS) delivered via the cloud. The SaaS solution, according to the vendor, provides an attrac- tive alternative for small or medium-sized mining companies that require a lower total cost of ownership but need a compre- hensive solution for today's industry demands. The SaaS-based solution is claimed to provide critical functionality needed to manage assets, maintenance strategies, materials and people, and ana- lyze performance, while delivering key functionality needed to support financial and management accounting, as well as help manage service, inventory and non- inventory purchasing, capital projects, and asset acquisition, said Ventyx. The Ventyx asset management SaaS for mining is available immediately. It is offered under a single quarterly subscription fee, delivered from the cloud and accessed from cus- tomer premises using the Internet. www.ventyx.com Safety Couplings for Heavy-duty Machinery Ringfeder Power Transmission pointed out that high-performance, heavy-duty gears have to continuously withstand huge loads. In case of a machine break- down caused by overload, an operation can incur high costs due to expensive spare parts and costly downtimes. With its GWS series, Ringfeder said it has intro- duced a new range of safety couplings from its GERWAH product segment, cus- tom-built for heavy duty. The working principle of the GWS series is based on a spring-loaded ball-in-detent arrangement. EMJ_pg138-141_EMJ_pg138-141 6/2/14 5:09 PM Page 139
