Wireless Gateway Connects Bluetooth Devices to Networks Laird Technologies, a designer and builder of customized components and systems for advanced electronics and wireless products, has released its new APG BT W400 wireless access point gateway, claimed to be ideal for M2M wireless com- munications and for connecting Bluetooth enabled devices in a Personal Area Network to IP network via Ethernet or WLAN interface. Based on the company's Bluetooth platform, this gateway offers four class 1 BT modules, Ethernet and WLAN communication as a standard pack- age. Built on an embedded Linux operat- ing system, the device supports applica- tion development and customization using Lua scripting language and optional sup- port for Python and Java (JVM). The gate- way delivers versatile functionality to add applications, offers flexible configuration via Web or console, and provides multiple connectivity options using USB, RS232 and RJ45 ports. The APG W400 features a multi-radio modular architecture and builds on Laird Technologies' family of Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum radios, including the BISM2, or an option- al LT2510; and integrates Bluetooth, Ethernet and 802.11b/g in a compact form factor. The APG is designed to act as a network node and can bridge most com- mon types of wireless, network and serial data protocols for the purpose of remote data acquisition and control.
Industrial Coupling Catalog Covers Wide Range of Units Power Transmission Solutions, a business unit of Emerson Industrial Automation, has released its new consolidated 300-page industrial coupling catalog covering Kop- Flex, Jaure, Morse and Browning products in bore sizes up to 43.5 in. (1105 mm), and torque ratings up to 329,000,000 lb- in. (37.2 million Nm). Styles include the simplest rigid and sleeve units to multiple types of disc, gear, chain, elastomeric, bar- rel, U-joint, shear-pin and tapered grid couplings. Resilient designs offer shock absorption and overload protection and var- ious units are engineered for high levels of angular/axial offset, misalignment and shaft separation. Custom units, such as flexible coupling drive shafts, are illustrat- ed and described. Various units meet API 610, ISO 13709 and AGMA 11 specs. Service center programs, such as repair, inventory and maintenance management are explained as well.
according to Topcon, are dustproof and waterproof and impervious to harsh condi- tions, including water, sand, humidity, dust, vibration, altitude, shock and extreme temperature. Features include a 6-in. backlit LCD screen and battery life of up to 16 hours. In addition, the unit has hot-swappable battery capabilities, ensuring continuous operation in the most demanding circumstances. The unit weighs less than 2 lb and is 5.3 in. wide, 8.6 in. long and 2 in. deep (13.5 x 22 x 5 cm). Standard accessories include Li- ion batteries, USB cable, stylus, screen protector, hand carrying strap and power supply. Optional accessories include a travel charger, 12-volt vehicle charger, international AC charger kit and a mobile docking station.
