Jobs such as process engineering or design of the electrical engineering can be carried out in parallel with automation engineering. Its open system architecture provides numerous interfaces to other systems and seamless integration in existing IT landscapes. Outotec Partners With GIW for Slurry Pump Sales, Service Outotec and GIW Industries Inc., a sub- sidiary of KSB Partners, have formed a partnership for sales and marketing of GIW slurry pumps and related services to metal mining customers globally. GIW Industries is a major provider of high- performance slurry pumps used in grinding, flotation and dewatering circuits. Outotec's full sales and service network will be available for the two companies' new and existing met- als mining and processing customers. The partnership will "expand Outotec's service offering and enhance the value to cus- tomers," according to a press statement. The global market for high-performance slurry pumps in metal mining applications is estimated to be around 1.3 billion. "GIW Minerals products and services fit extremely well into our portfolio. Together with GIW we are able to offer more com- plete solutions and expanded services to our customers. Our joint technological breadth of experience and applications, extensive research and development capa- bilities together with life-cycle services will ensure profitable and sustainable opera- tions for our customers," said Kalle Harkki, president of Outotec's Minerals Processing business area. Nyrstar Implements Honeywell Production Accounting Solution Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) announced that its production accounting and reconciliation software will be used to improve performance at Nyrstar, a global mining company based in Switzerland. Honeywell's Production Accounting and Reconciliation (PAR), a statistical data rec- onciliation software solution, is used for resolving material and energy balance prob- lems in mining. PAR, said Honeywell, helps production facilities more accurately report production and inventory information, resulting in better economic decisions, a reduction in unaccounted losses, and adher- ence to corporate governance guidelines. "Successful metals companies, such as Nyrstar, demand innovative solutions that offer sustainable cost reduction and mar- gin improvement," said Ali Raza, vice pres- ident of HPS' Advanced Solutions busi- ness. "Honeywell production management technologies enable accurate estimates of metal inventory and a better understanding of plant performance, leading to improved market responsiveness." Nyrstar will initially implement PAR at its site in Balen, Belgium, before rolling out to its other sites around the world. Nyrstar has mining, smelting and other operations located in Europe, Australia, China and the Americas, and employs more than 5,500 people. The integrated mining and metals company has major market positions in zinc and lead, and growing positions in other base and precious metals. Honeywell said PAR 200 enables global multi-site enterprises to achieve their corporate wide initiative to deliver monthly production and consumption reports much quicker, more accurately, more consistently and with less effort. In addition, the solution allows for bet- ter and timelier business decisions, while free- ing up the many worldwide resources involved in the current spreadsheet-based process.
