74 E&MJ; • MARCH 2016 E Q U I P M E N T G A L L E R Y www.e-mj.com Komatsu America has introduced the WA600-8 wheel loader, equipped with fea- tures that allow the loader to use up to 13% less fuel than its Tier 3 predecessor by optimizing control of engine power, and improving power train and hydraulic effi- ciency. Standard bucket capacity has been increased to 9.2 yd 3 . Standard equipment on the WA600-8 includes a 23-liter, 529-hp SAA6D170E-7 diesel; SmartLoader Logic, combined with the enhanced lockup torque converter that activates in second, third and forth gear to provide optimal engine torque for im- proved acceleration, hill-climbing ability, a higher top speed and fuel savings; and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and other after-treatment components that are de- signed in conjunction with the engine for effi- ciency and long life. Komatsu said more than 98% of DPF regeneration is performed pas- sively, with no action required of the operator and no interference with machine operation. An Auto Idle Shutdown reduces idle time and saves fuel, while a variable trac- tion control system and modulated clutch system provide optimal tractive effort for various ground conditions. An enhanced auto-dig function reduces operator effort required to fill the bucket. Komatsu's inte- grated load meter data is available on the machine monitor and remotely via the Web. In-cab enhancements range from a new, air-suspension, high-back, heated seat that softens machine vibrations for operator com- fort, to cast frame members that increase strength. Other features include seat-mount- ed electronic pilot control levers and a KOM- TRAX Plus telematics system/monitor that provides key machine metrics, including DPF status and DEF-level data, fuel con- sumption, and performance information col- lected and sorted by operator ID. www.komatsuamerica.com Dragline Chain Repair Link Installs Quickly and Easily ProLink mechanical dragline chain link from ESCO is designed to reduce costs by extend- ing the service life of a mine's hoist and drag chain. The product provides a hammerless and hot work-free installation and removal for rapid replacement in any strand location. The link can be rotated quickly into four dif- ferent positions for increased duty cycles, lowering total operating costs. The product is available in multiple sizes covering a range of dragline chains on the market today, including 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5 and 5 in. According to the company, field trials at North America and Australia mines have reported change times as little as five min- utes, and the ProLink chain link has provid- ed up to 40% longer duty cycles with up to 66% less chain maintenance downtime. www.escocorp.com Versatile Crawler-mounted DTH Rig Atlas Copco said its new SmartROC D60 is a versatile Down-The-Hole (DTH) rig de- signed for drilling 110- to 178-mm-diame- ter (4-5/16- to 7-in.) holes, and can be used in a wide variety of applications and challenging drilling conditions. The new model's hole navigation and auto position- ing systems ensure that the rig will locate the exact position of each hole and then accurately collar and drill them to precisely the required depth and inclination, accord- ing to the company—providing better blast fragmentation and improving both the load- ability and crushability of the blasted ore. A standard feed with 5-m-tube capacity features built-in sensors in the rod handling cylinders and carousel motor, enabling more reliable rod handling and eliminating the need for inductive sensors. The rig also has Auto Rod Handling as a standard fea- ture. Economical fuel consumption is achieved through intelligent control of the compressor load and engine RPM, resulting in an estimated fuel saving of up to 15% compared with the FlexiROC D60.
