The system's stand-alone, Wi-Fi-based infrastructure has the ability to easily expand with a mine's development, and the capability of interconnecting mine-wide for eventual surface control. www.hard-line.com Bucket Elevator/Conveyor Monitoring Simplifi ed 4B Components Ltd. has released the fourth generation Watchdog control unit for monitoring bucket elevators and con- veyors. According to the company, the Watchdog Super Elite WDC4 is easy to install and simple to set up. The system processes signals from up to 15 sen- sors for belt speed, belt misalignment, continuous bearing temperature, pulley misalignment and plug conditions on bucket elevators or conveyors. When an alarm condition is detected the system will log the details, sound an alarm and provide shutdown control of the elevator/ conveyor and feeding system. A new 3.5- in. color LCD screen displays the entire system status at a glance. The WDC4 model now supports belt speed monitor- ing for variable frequency drives (VFDs), and belt misalignment inputs for con- tact, pulse and temperature (brass rub block) sensors. The WDC4 also has jog and acceleration monitoring for detec- ting any equipment issues during the startup sequence. Controller settings are password pro- tected, and can be set up either directly on the LCD screen, or by a free PC soft- ware application and transferred to the WDC4 via an SD card. The Watchdog Super Elite can be connected directly to a PLC using Modbus TCP/IP protocol, or integrated into a secure cloud-based solution that provides live system status, graphs and historical data that is view- able on any Web-enabled device. All 4B Watchdog sensors are CSA Class II, Divi- sion 1 approved. www.go4b.com Drum Tipper Enables Safe, Dust-free Material Transfer Flexicon now offers the new Tip-Tite mo- bile drum tipper, which allows dust-free transfer of bulk materials from drums into process equipment and storage vessels. Ready to plug in and run, it is mounted on a mobile frame with quick-action fl oor jacks for stable operation. A hydraulic cylinder raises the drum carriage which seals the drum rim against a discharge cone, after which a second hydraulic cyl- inder tips the carriage-hood assembly and drum, stopping at a predetermined dump angle of either 45°, 60° or 90° with a mo- tion-dampening feature. As the assembly approaches its fully tipped position, the outlet of the discharge cone mates with a gasketed receiving-ring inlet fi tted to ex- isting process equipment or to the lid of an optional hopper, creating a dust-tight seal. Once the discharge cone is seated against the gasket, a pneumatically ac- tuated slide gate valve opens, allowing material to enter the receiving vessel. The unit accommodates drums from 114 to 208 liters (30 to 55 gallons) weighing up to 340 kg (750 lb) and measuring 91 to 122 cm (36 to 48 in.) in height. An optional pneumatically actuated vibrator on the discharge cone promotes complete evacuation of non-free-fl owing materials. The drum tipper is available in mild steel with durable industrial fi nishes, with ma- terial contact surfaces of stainless steel, or in all-stainless steel. www.fl exicon.co.uk Taller Equipment Cabinets Offer More Space Hammond Manufacturing said its ex- tensive in-house modifi cation capabili- ties enable its well-established standard product families to be customized to meet the requirements of specifi c appli- cations. Recent examples include taller 90-in. (228-cm) versions of the two-door, fl oor-standing 1422 and HN4FM series and the single-door freestanding 1418 and HN4FS series, all available in ei- ther painted mild steel or 304 or 316L stainless steel construction. The custom 90-in.-high painted steel models are agency approved to UL/CSA Type 4 and the stainless steel versions to UL/CSA Type 4X. According to the company, the great- er complexity of today's electrical equip- ment often requires more control and monitoring equipment, and with fl oor area a costly asset, "going upward" makes best use of the space avail- able. The greater surface area of the taller cabinets also improves conduction,
