EQUIPMENT GALLERY The two-piece coupling, a mainstay in the mining industry, is now available in 14 to 24-in. sizes (350 to 600 mm). The two- piece Style 77 was previously only available for pipes up to 12 in., and a multi-piece housing was required for pipes 14 to 24 in. in diameter. The Style 77 coupling, de- signed for cut grooved systems, creates a flexible joint and is ideal for abrasive serv- ice piping, such as tailings and slurry lines. Maintaining the same design characteris- tics as the multi-segment coupling, the new two-piece design reduces handling and enables easier and quicker installation. The Style 77 is rated for 300 psi service (2,065 kPa) from 14 to 22 in. (350 to 550 mm), and for 250 psi service (1,725 kPa) in the 24-in. size (600 mm). www.victaulic.com Mobile Conveyor Built for Heap Leach Applications The TeleStacker Conveyor from Superior Industries is a heavy-duty telescoping radi- al stacking conveyor that is claimed to offer the ability to stockpile 30% more material per move than similar radial stackers, and an operating tonnage ranging from 200 to 5,000 t/h. The machine is available as a specially configured Mine Duty model designed and built for the mining industry, and heap leaching applications in particu- lar. A key element of the TeleStacker design is the patented FB Undercarriage support system, which is constructed of durable steel and features a tubular braced structure to prevent twisting and shifting. Further enhancing the safety and stability of the entire machine is the strategic placement of standard hydraulic cylinders, placed on the outside of the undercarriage for units up to 150 ft (46 m) long or on the inside for those units greater than 150 ft. To ensure mobility and flotation over diffi- cult terrain, the TeleStacker can be equipped with steel tracks that are attached to Superior's patented FD Series axle. The combination, according to Superior, enables fast, easy transition from radial to linear travel modes. The operator is able to simply lower the FD tracks into position to access the stacker's radial model or hydraulically lift them up for lin- ear travel. www.superior-ind.com Pipe Kit Cuts Square Edges for Easier Connections ESCO Tool has introduced a pneumatic saw, universal pipe trolley kit, and circum- ferential track mount system claimed to be ideal for cutting concrete-lined pipe square. The MILLHOG APS-438 air pow- ered saw features a fiberglass reinforced blade for cutting concrete-lined steam pipe and leaves a perfectly square cut for sub- sequent welding or to assure a flush fit for couplings. The saw mounts on a trolley that has four V-grooved steel wheels and glides along a rugged steel WrapTrack System which can be sized to fit pipe from 6 to 60 in. diameter (152 to 1,524 mm). Attaching to the pipe's circumference, the WrapTrack incorporates steel bands that correspond to the outside diameter of the pipe and the saw mounts rigidly on the trol- ley, resulting in accurate cuts. This saw, according to the supplier, also is well suit- ed for cutting stainless steels, Inconel, and other highly alloyed pipe without leaving a heat-affected zone. www.escotool.com 156 E&MJ; • JUNE 2012 www.e-mj.com
