76 E&MJ; • JULY 2017 www.e-mj.com SUPPLIERS REPORT Arianne Phosphate signed FLSmidth to provide all production equipment and engineering for their future plant, Lac à Paul in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. The phosphate processing plant will be de- signed for a capacity of 55,000 metric tons per day (mt/d), to produce 3 million mt/year (mt/y) of phosphate rock concen- trate, grading 38.6% P 2 O 5 , with concen- trate P 2 O 5 recovery of 90%. Onboarding FLSmith created oppor- tunities for further financing the project, Brian Ostroff, CEO, Arianne Phosphate, said. "With the support of Denmark's Ex- port Credit Agency, FLSmidth has been able to open the door to the finance com- munity by ensuring the most sustainable technologies with a focus on crucial water and energy resources," he said. College Turns to Simulators for Training The Canadian Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) tapped ThoroughTec Simulation to equip its new Mine Training Center with the latest high-fidelity operator training simulators. The college will be receiving six CYBER- MINE simulators to facilitate the training of both surface and underground heavy equipment operators. The center, which will be located at CCNB's Bathurst Campus, will service the rapidly expanding mining industry in the region. CCNB seeks to also provide on- site training with the simulators. Simula- tor training will be offered in both French and English. ABB to Upgrade 5 Hoists at Kiruna ABB has won another order from Nor- dic iron ore miner LKAB to modernize five mine hoists for the Kiruna mine in Sweden. The order includes mechanical, electrical and automation equipment for hoists B2, B4, B5, B6 and B8. LKAB is modernizing its central (CA) hoisting plant, which consists of eight hoists (B1–B8) in the CA plant, and five hoists in the subvertical level. ABB had recently won orders to deliver a new B1 hoist and modernize the B3 hoist, and has supplied equipment for all 13 pro- duction hoists over the years. The main artery of LKAB's produc- tion flow, the CA plant raises ore from the sublevel (898 m) up to ground lev- el. ABB's delivery includes mechani- cal equipment for the hoist plants and shafts, electrical and control equipment, construction, electrical installation, in- stallation supervision, site management as well as commissioning. FLANDERS Buys Canadian Repair Facility FLANDERS acquired a Fort McMurray, Canada, repair facility previously operat- ed by ABB. The Fort McMurray Region- al Service Center is fully equipped and will immediately employ six locally. The center will service customers with motor repairs up to 2,500 hp. It expands the company's repair network to 15 globally. Atlas Copco Buys Stake in Digital Mine Supplier Atlas Copco acquired a 34% stake in Mobilaris MCE, a mining intelligence business. The latter's software solu- tions offers situational awareness of the mines, real-time positioning and detailed status information on vehicles, equip- ment and personnel. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the beginning of the third quarter of 2017. Mobilaris MCE will operate as a separate company partly owned by Atlas Copco. Siemens Taps Tata to Transform IoT Technology Siemens partnered with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to further develop Mind- Sphere, the former's Internet of Things (IoT) operating system. New applica- tions for MindSphere by TCS will en- able predictive maintenance and ener- gy monitoring. With expertise in automation, IoT and connectivity, TCS will support develop- ments around MindConnect Nano, the cloud gateway that can be used to con- nect production to cloud-based analysis Canadian Phosphate Project Contracts German Supplier The Canadian Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick will use six ThoroughTec simulators for its training center.
