JULY 2017 • E&MJ; 79 www.e-mj.com SUPPLIERS REPORT tags. KINEXON will reportedly develop a high-precision real-time system for 3-D-localization and motion sensing. iTiZZiMO will implement software inte- gration using smart devices. Testing will initially occur in the Test and Application Center L.I.N.K. run by the Fraunhofer IIS in Nuremberg. Following completion of the project, the partners will transfer an installation to the low-voltage motor assembly line at the Siemens factory in Nuremberg. Sorting Tech Catches Big, Tiny Diamonds TOMRA's X-ray transmission (XRT) sort- ing technology reportedly recovered a 227-carat Type IIa premium-quality di- amond at the Lulo mine in Angola. The diamond is not only the largest single stone to be recovered at the newly com- missioned XRT large diamond recovery circuit at Lulo, but it is also Angola's second largest recorded diamond. As part of the new coarse recovery stream at the 150-metric-ton-per-hour (mt/h) diamond plant, the XRT technology pro- vided the Lulo partners with the capabil- ity to recover individual diamonds up to 1,100 carats. Meanwhile, a TOMRA dual-energy X-ray transmission (DEXRT) full-scale sorter located at the test facilities of TOMRA Sorting GmbH in Wedel, Ger- many, processed roughly 2.8 mt of AG milled product from the Star-Orion South Diamond project as part of owner Shore Gold's feasibility study. Tests were com- pleted at operational throughputs (up to 120 mt/h) with all diamonds and tracers being recovered down to 4 millimeters, with very low concentrate yields. Caterpillar Buys Into SAAS Developer Caterpillar announced a strategic invest- ment in software-as-a-service (SaaS) supplier Alight Inc. The latter develops industry-specific solutions for financial forecasting and scenario analysis. Mining is one of its primary target industries. Caterpillar reported it seeks enhanced solutions that will combine data from technology-enabled machines with finan- cial forecasting software to help miners make more real-time business decisions. Alight's cloud-based products allow users to pull data from other systems such as Cat MineStar, run multiple scenarios to facilitate financial deci- sion-making, and then create enterprise- level financial forecasts. Contractor to Supply Grinding Equipment Amec Foster Wheeler Civmec joint ven- ture contracted Outotec for the delivery of process equipment to the greenfield Gruyere Gold project in Western Austra- lia. Outotec's scope of work includes the design and delivery of a 15-megawatt (MW) semiautogenous grinding mill. The equipment will be delivered during the first quarter of 2018. The order is valued at more than $15 million.
