SEPTEMBER 2017 • E&MJ; 85 www.e-mj.com SUPPLIERS REPORT ongoing investment in the business, in- cluding this project," Henry said. The capital cost for South Flank is ex- pected to be in the range of $30 to $40 per mt, with expenditure fitting within WAIO's previously indicated average sus- taining capital expenditure of $4 per mt over the next five years. "The capital efficiency of South Flank is underpinned by the planned use of ex- isting infrastructure at the Mining Area C operation, which would, if approved, become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centers in the world, within reach of several billion mt of high- grade ore," Henry said. Conveyor Part Maker Acquires Peer The Rulmeca Group's South African subsidiary, Melco Conveyor Equipment, acquired CPM (Conveyor Pulley Manu- facturers), located in Johannesburg. Mel- co's managing director said the company would retain "all existing employees of CPM." CPM founders and owners Doug Fenner and Othmar Hiebb will also be re- tained. Rulmeca, a global market leader in conveyor components (rollers, idlers, structure, motorized pulleys and pulleys), said the move expands its global presence in the conveyor pulley business for bulk materials handling. Patent Suit Ends in Settlement ALLU Finland settled a patent infringe- ment lawsuit in U.S. District Court against Rock Tools Equipment and Rock Tools Attachments, both of Greenwood Village, Colorado. The suit concerned technology relating to ALLU's Screening, Crushing or Mixing Buckets. In the settlement, Rock Tools ad- mitted its model RTB20 infringed upon two patents. Per its terms, the com- pany will permanently cease and desist in designing, manufacturing, or market- ing any screening and crushing buck- ets that infringe upon ALLU Finland patents. The company also will remove descriptions and images of the disput- ed products from its website and social media pages. Contractor: Shuttered Mine Re-opened in 9 Weeks Engineering contractor Chute Technology announced timely and successful reha- bilitation and recommissioning of Glen- core's Integra Coal mine in Hunter Valley. The project spanned nine weeks. Af- terward, the mine was reported to be on schedule to deliver first coal from the longwall by midyear and building work- force numbers, Chute Technology report- ed. Glencore opted to re-open the under- ground mine in 2016 after purchasing it from Vale in 2015. The mine had been on care and maintenance since 2014. Gold Project Powered by GE Engines General Electric contracted Clarke Ener- gy to provide the engines for the power station that will supply the Gruyere gold project. The latter, GE's distribute and service partner, will supply 11 of GE's high-effi- ciency Jenbacher J624 gas engines to the APA Group for its new 45-megawatt Yam- arna Power Station in Western Australia, currently under construction. Clarke Energy will engineer, procure and construct the power station. The gas will be transported a total of almost 1,500 km using four APA Group pipe- lines, including its latest greenfield, 198- km Yamarna Gas Pipeline, currently also under construction. HPGR Reaches Major Production Milestone Metso and Freeport-McMoRan announced the new HRC3000, which is the world's largest operating high-pressure grinding roll and is located at the Metcalf Concen- trator at Freeport's Morenci copper mine in Arizona, crushed its 100 millionth ton of ore. Due to the machine's capacity, it reached the milestone in less than three years. The HRC3000 began operating in May 2014. Morenci is an open-pit copper mining complex that has been in continu- ous operation since 1939. Simple economies of scale allow for fewer lines of equipment, which re- duces the amount of ancillary equip- ment. The HRC3000 is the first full Glencore Integra Engineering Manager David Young and Operations Manager Peter Ostermann (operations manager at Integra) in front of some of the plant involved in the Chute Technology project. GE's Jenbacher J624 model, shown here, is claimed to be the first two-stage, turbocharged gas engine in the world.
