52 E&MJ; • FEBRUARY 2018 www.e-mj.com EQUIPMENT GALLERY Komatsu America Corp. introduced the D375A-8 crawler dozer. It features an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 Final certifi ed engine that produces more than 20% more horsepower while the dozer is traveling in the reverse direction. The additional horsepower yields faster cy- cle times and a productivity increase of up to 18%, the company reported. The mining-class dozer comes with structural enhancements for increased durability of the mainframe and track frame. The D375A-8 also features an im- proved suspended undercarriage, larger viscous cab mounts, and a new air-sus- pension heated and ventilated seat for overall operator comfort. The dozer offers 609 hp in forward, and 748 hp in reverse. Engine compo- nents include Variable Geometry Turbo- charger; high-pressure, common rail fuel injection system; dual Komatsu Diesel Particulate Filters; large-capacity and high-effi ciency exhaust gas recirculation coolers; and an automatic, three-speed transmission with an automatically en- gaging lockup torque converter. Enhancements include changes to sus- pended undercarriage, cab isolators, oper- ator seat, and ergonomics of operator in- terface; structural enhancements of track frame; new single link blade support and larger trunnion bearings; and improved visibility to cutting edge and ripper point. www.komatsuamerica.com Volvo Enters Rigid Hauler Market Volvo announced it will enter the rigid haul- er market in the second quarter of 2018 by launching a range of haulers that consists of the 45-ton R45D, 60-ton R60D, 72-ton R70D and the 100-ton R100E. The R100E offers high capacity and hauling speeds, a new V-shaped body, effi cient hydraulics, and intelligent moni- toring systems and operator environment. It delivers stability, a long service life, high profi tability, durability and comfort, the company reported. The new Volvo-branded rigid haulers will be manufactured at the rebranded Volvo Motherwell production facility in Scotland and sold exclusively through the Volvo dealer network. Terex Trucks-brand- ed articulated haulers will continue to be designed, built and developed at the Motherwell facility, and distributed using the pre-existing Terex Trucks independent dealer network. However, as a result of the launch of the Volvo-branded rigid haulers, production of Terex Trucks rigid haulers will, over time, cease, Volvo reported. www.volvoce.com Slurry Seal for Low-water Applications A.W. Chesterton Company introduced the 170L Slurry Cartridge Single Seal, which, the company reported, is engineered to operate reliably in severe slurry environ- ments without external seal fl ushes. The seal is designed for Warman AH series pumps. It eliminates the need to dimen- sionally check each pump, as well as any modifi cations to the pump. The seal uses a single clamping screw, which prevents equipment shaft damage and simplifi es seal removal in sticky or viscous fl uids, or where solids have a tendency to clog standard set screw designs. It can help reduce water costs where clean water is scarce or costly, the company reported. www.chesterton.com Tires for Frigid Conditions BKT announced its winter ranges Earth- max SR 22, Snow Trac and Earthmax SR 42 for off-the-road applications as well as Earthmax SR 33 and Ridemax IT 696 for the industrial sector. The tires fea- ture tread designed in specifi c patterns for cold season applications, providing traction on muddy or snowy surfaces, the company reported. They offer maximum grip, optimum braking response in any condition, safety, handling, riding com- fort, resistance and durability. The ranges also offer top performance in normal con- ditions on dry terrain. Tier 4 Crawler Dozer Has More HP
