EQUIPMENT GALLERY ing engine torque when the loader isn't working hard, such as when it is driving with an empty bucket. KSLL functions automatically with machine operation and results in saving fuel without decreasing production. The WA470-7 has a newly designed Komatsu Large Capacity Torque Converter with Lock-Up as a standard fea- ture. This provides improved acceleration, faster hill climb ability, a higher top speed and lower fuel consumption. The Lock-Up function activates in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears giving the machine a maximum ground speed of 23.8 mph (38.3 km/h). A new high resolution 7-in. LCD monitor allows the operator to easily modify settings for items such as the Auto Idle Shutdown or the auto-reversing fan. The operator can also check operational records, such as working hours or fuel consumption; monitor the KDPF soot load; or check how much time is required before the next mainte- nance interval. A separate high-resolution back-up camera is standard with every machine and is mounted on the right hand side of the console for operator conven- ience. The machine is equipped with the exclusive Komatsu Equipment Manage- ment Monitoring System (EMMS), which provides enhanced diagnostic features that give the operator and technicians greater monitoring and troubleshooting capabili- ties. EMMS continuously monitors all criti- cal systems, as well as the planned preven- tative maintenance schedule, and provides troubleshooting assistance to minimize diagnosis and repair time. www.komatsuamerica.com App Solution Improves Project Collaboration Aconex, a provider of online project collab- oration solutions for mining and other industries, has launched the Aconex Mobile for iPad. The new app enables project teams to access, share and review docu- ments and drawings; capture and transmit photos, video and audio; and manage tasks, issues and actions from anywhere at any time, according to the supplier. Aconex Mobile for iPad follows Aconex Mobile for iPhone, launched in May 2011, in the con- tinued expansion of the company's mobile cloud collaboration portfolio. The iPad app offers all of the same benefits as the iPhone app, plus the ability to review and update documents and drawings on a larger display and keypad. Aconex says its Mobile for iPad users can capture photos, video and audio on site for communication and distribution to others; access and manage the most cur- rent project documents and communica- tions from any location at any time; review images and drawings, and deliver com- ments and updates to project team mem- bers; manage tasks and issues, and com- municate action items that address them; view and edit project information offline when a mobile connection is unavailable, and then synchronize files with the Aconex platform when the connection is restored. www.aconex.com Non-metallic Pump The portable Flex-I-Liner rotary peristaltic pump from Vanton Pump and Equipment evacuates drums and totes containing acids, caustics, salts, chlorides and reagent grade chemicals, without corrosion of the pump or contamination of the fluid. A rotor mounted on an eccentric shaft oscillates within the flexible liner, imparting a progressive squeegee action on the fluid trapped in the channel between the liner and the body block. Flanges on the flexible liner are pressed to the side of the body block by con- centric grooves on the bracket assembly and the cover plate, isolating the fluid to the channel. The self-priming design has no seals to leak or valves to clog, and can run dry for extended periods without damage. Compact in size with integral handle, it fits on drum lids without protruding, and has sufficient lift characteristics to operate from the floor, skid, or stand. Only two non-metal- lic parts contact fluid: a thermoplastic body block, and an elastomeric flexible liner that can be replaced in the field without special tools. A wide choice of thermoplastics and elastomers in which these pumps are avail- able permits their use over the full pH range and for an extensive list of corrosive, volatile 132 E&MJ; • NOVEMBER 2012 www.e-mj.com
