AUGUST 2018 • E&MJ 95 www.e-mj.com SUPPLIERS REPORT life-cycle data model was developed by Evonik on the basis of the international DEXPI standard ISO 15956 and other internationally valid standards. Its aim is to cover all the elements and structures of relevance for the chemical industry in a single-integrated data model across the entire life cycle — from product develop- ment, equipment planning and operation to final decommissioning. Siemens and Evonik will develop an application provid- ing software support for the whole engi- neering and operation process. Saudi Phosphate Ops Get US Locomotives Savage Saudi Arabia delivered five GP38-3 locomotives and two booster units to Ma'aden Wa'ad Al-Shamal Phos- phate Company's (MWSPC) new mining and processing plants in Wa'ad Al-Shamal Industrial City and Ras Al Khair Indus- trial City. The locomotives and booster units were imported by ship from Hous- ton, Texas, United States, to the Port of Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and then hauled by tractor-trailers. Savage will provide training for loco- motive operations and maintenance to fa- cilitate handover to MWSPC. Additionally, Savage has an agreement to provide rail switching, track maintenance, and track signaling system operations and mainte- nance for Saudi Aramco at its Wasit and Berri Gas Plants. These services will help facilitate the transportation of molten sul - phur by rail to MWSPC's facilities for use in producing phosphate fertilizers. DMT Partners on Excavator, Conveyors, Spreader DMT GmbH & Co KG, together with the Serbian joint venture partner Del- ta Engineering, signed in March 2016 a 42-month contract with Serbian mining and electric power producer EPS for the supervision of engineering, manufactur- ing, erection, commissioning and guaran- tee test of mining equipment. The part- nership will oversee the supply, works and services of a main contract between the Chinese Machinery Export Corp. (CMEC) and EPS. The main contract between EPS and CMEC has the objective to finally com- mission one bucket wheel excavator with a theoretical capacity of 6,600 cubic meters per hour (m 3 /h), four belt conveyors with a total length of 5000 m and the same capacity as the excavator, and a spreader with a theoretical capacity of 8,800 m 3 /h. The completion of the equipment is ex- pected by the end of 2018, and the guar- antee tests are scheduled in March 2019. Clarification: Record Underground Blast Last month, E&MJ published an announce- ment from Dyno Nobel on a record under- ground blast. The text should have read: "The Renard Mine called this stope shot a 'Mass Blast,' which was fitting for this large-scale blast. With a total of 265,000 projected tons, 208,000 kg of explosives were used to load this stope shot, including 1,461 DigiShot Plus detonators used for initiation." The term "projected tons" refers to the total size of the muck pile for this enormous round. Thank you to the E&MJ readers who brought this to our attention. The bucketwheel excavator, above, will be tested in 2019. (Photo: DMT GmbH & Co KG) Savage will deliver the locomotives and provide training. (Photo: Savage)
