CRUSHERS 80 E&MJ • JUNE 2019 of 5 mm to 11 mm. "A typical application in Europe is low-noise emission asphalt," Hörschkes said. "Here you need a very sharp cut point, which is only possible with a cubical material." The machines require a material buffer up front to equalize the feed. "To have no buffer silo in front of the crusher and a too small screen in a closed circuit will affect the particle shape and the circulation load negative," Hörschkes said. Servicing will be provided by Excel Foundry & Machine. That, combined with analytics options offered by FLSmidth, should produce real savings, Hörschkes said. "We have developed tools to help optimize the OPEX cost's and educate the service crews of our customers," he said. "With these activities, it is possible to arrange savings of more than 10%." Individually, Raptor Crushers employ sensors to monitor performance. "Our advanced automation system can take nec- essary corrective actions," the company reported. "The same advanced automation system can be used to optimize crusher performance with feed control, setting adjustment and monitor- ing of critical lubrication and hydraulic parameters." The result is improved efficiency. Developing efficient, rugged, configurable solutions that meet the exact needs of the customer speaks to a couple of the com- pany's primary missions, Hörschkes said. "With our own sim- ulation tool and project engineers who have solid knowhow in building plants, we try to offer custom-made solutions," he said. "Each material has different characteristics we try to develop the right solution to meet the specific demands of our customers." Modular for Mobility At bauma, McLanahan showcased the new UltraCRUSH Mod- ular Cone Crusher, which the company described as modular, easy to install and transportable. The crusher features a "heavy-duty cast steel base frame" and includes "replaceable base frame wear liners," the company re- ported. The design includes "a rotating bowl for even liner wear, a bronze inner and outer eccentric bushings for more load-carrying capability, and a large unobstructed feed opening." For improved longevity, it offers a hydropneumatics tramp iron relief system. (Photo: FLSmidth) Expert Solutions for Tough Material Flow Problems Control Concepts material handling solu- tions keeps bulk materials flowing and oper- ations moving in process applications world- wide. The Control Concepts team approach- es every customer application problem as unique, working with you to develop solu- tions that best suit your needs. We pride ourselves in the high quality products we create, excellent customer service, and our long-standing relationships with customers. For over 68 years, our branded products have solved problems in processing indus- tries such as mining, feed & grain, food, pharmaceutical, and any industry where bulk materials are processed or produced. AirSweep ® Material Activation System elim- inates and prevents bridging, blockages, and material buildup in silos, bins, chutes and more. Each AirSweep nozzle produces a 360° burst of compressed air or inert gas, up to 8-ft in diameter, to lift and sweep material back into the flow stream. Sequenced pulsing of strategically-posi- tioned AirSweep units activate bulk material for a first-in, first-out controlled flow. DAZIC ® Zero Speed Switches monitor the rotary motion of conveyor systems or other shaft-driven process components. If one machine deviates or fails, the switch will actuate an alarm or signal, or other device to stop the operation; reducing downtime, safeguarding operations and protecting expensive equipment. The DAZIC line includes electromechanical, electronic and proximity switches. AcoustiClean ® Sonic Horns produce high-en- ergy, low-frequency sound vibrations to disperse and prevent costly buildup of material in hoppers, bins, silos, ESPs, and more. Sonic horns improve process effi- ciency and productivity resulting in fewer unscheduled shut downs for cleaning. Control Concepts, Inc. 860-928-6551
