Motors Are Repaired in Zambian Mine Marthinusen & Coutts reported a team comprised of experts from its Cleveland engineering services branch and its Kit- we, Zambia, facility successfully reha- bilitated multiple medium-voltage pump motors in one of the wettest mines in Africa. According to a press release, an OEM initially contracted the company to assess the motors. The motors were found to be in poor condition and mandated refurbishment. Where possible, the motors were repaired in place. Others were removed for repairs. Throughout, a disruption to pumping meant flooding. Marthinusen & Coutts operates repair and manufacturing facilities in Johan- nesburg, Benoni, Sasolburg, Rustenburg, Harare and Kitwe. Epiroc Drill Plant Launched Epiroc held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new treatment plant for rock drills in Örebro, Sweden. The plant is expected to enable the company to "boost rock drill quality and performance," lower total cost of owner- ship for the customer, and increase drill productivity, Epiroc reported. "The in- vestment is a key step toward ensuring that this first-class manufacturing site remains as productive and competitive as possible for the long term," Helena Hedb- lom, senior executive vice president, min- ing and infrastructure, Epiroc, said.
