JULY 2019 • E&MJ 61 EQUIPMENT GALLERY Protective Glove Offers Max Grip Southern Glove Inc. released the Rid- er Glove, which is described as offering impact protection, enhanced gripping power and durability. Options include a corded or textured palm. The gloves are constructed with high-visibility green polyester stretch back and high-visibili- ty Thermplastic Rubber impact-resistant pads on the back of the hand, fi ngers and thumb, the company reported. The corded palm option is a poly/cotton blend for maximum grip in wet conditions. The textured palm option is made from nylon/ polyurethane synthetic leather material and has palm patches and padding for extra grip. Both options feature a black neoprene cuff and synthetic leather pull. Tieback for Hauler Maintenance Phillystran announced the TufStrop light- weight haul truck safety tieback. The rope supports the dump body, preventing it from closing during maintenance. Made from high-molecular-weight poly- ethylene fi ber, the rope, in a splice sling confi guration, connects the raised bed and the rear axle. It has an outer protective coat- ing for increased UV radiation and abrasion resistance. It is also resistant to fuels and cleaning solutions and has minimal mois- ture absorption, the company reported. The tieback can be easily fi tted by one person, Phillystran reported. TufStrops are made to order to the spe- cifi c requirements of the type of hauler. Filter for Dry Stacked Tailings Metso launched the VPX fi lter for tailings dewatering and introduced its related com- prehensive tailings management concept. Leadership at the company said the latter improves water, chemicals and ore conservation while extracting the remain- ing minerals. "It allows transforming leg- acy practices in tailings management into a new, positive value-creation model," Victor Tapia, president, mining equip- ment, Metso, said. The concept seeks to fi lter and dry tailings, which can then be stacked. Results reportedly include both capex and opex savings. The technology enabling the concept, the VPX fi lter, is described as a next-gener- ation fi ltration solution enabling maximum water recovery and reuse. The fi lter has up to 25 bars operating pressure, and is ca- pable of 90% water recovery, the company reported. It is equipped with a fully electro- mechanical drive system and no hydraulics. The fi lter is scalable and easily transport- able in standard containers, Metso reported. Postal Address: P.O.Box 19004, Boksburg, 1470, South Africa.
