E Q U I P M E N T G A L L E RY Magnets Remove Grinding Media Metal from Ore Eriez claims its trunnion magnet separators effectively remove up to 98% of grindingmedia steel balls and ferrous chips from milled ore in SAG or ball mill operations. By eliminating these potentially destructive pieces, damage to downstream equipment is significantly reduced. Positioned at the downstream end of the mill, the trunnion magnet consists of an arc of permanent magnets surrounding almost half of a blind trunnion extension. As the trunnion rotates, the magnetic circuit attracts and holds the steel balls to the inner surface of the trunnion. The steel balls are carried to the top of the trunnion where the magnetic arc terminates, thereby releasing the balls, which fall into a hopper and chute. Given mill capacity, ball size and other parameters, Eriez will select and specify the appropriate construction features for its trunnion magnet installations. www.eriez.com Measurement for Hightemperature Storage Vessels BinMaster Level Controls introduced the 3DLevelScanner HT for measuring volume and mapping material surfaces in bins, tanks and silos with high temperatures. This new model of the 3DLevelScanner has an operating temperature range of up to 356°F (180°C) to accommodate high temperatures that may be present when material has been heated in the production process before it is conveyed into storage silos. The device measures the material level in multiple locations in the vessel and estimates the volume, and is claimed to be ideal for use where there are multiple challenges such as excessive dust or high www.e-mj.com humidity, as well as in very large silos where the material surface in the bin is irregular and difficult to measure. The sensor sends pulses in a 70° beam angle, taking multiple measurements from the material surface and continually mapping the material surface to detect changes in level, account for uneven surface topography, and calculate a highly accurate volume estimate for the contents of the silo. The 3DLevelManager software reports the lowest and highest points detected and the average level based upon a weighted average of all of the measurements detected in the bin.
