If the disengagement torque preset on the switching units is exceeded, the steel balls move out of their detent in axial direction, causing a stable separation of the input and output side, thereby inter- rupting the torque transmission. The over- load coupling can quickly be returned to operating mode. Changing the preset dis- engagement torque requires only a few simple steps, without having to dismount the coupling. Depending on model size, up to 12 standardized switching units are located on the outer ring of the coupling, ensuring a backlash-free connection and reliable torque transmission between input and output side. This allows a high level of flexibility in terms of disengage- ment torque as well as coupling size and design. In order to meet different user requirements, Ringfeder offers three types of heavy-duty couplings. In addi- tion to a coupling model with flange-hub and keyway-hub, the portfolio includes a flexible coupling and a rigid disc cou- pling, both with keyway-hubs on the input and the output side. Optionally, the couplings of the GWS series can be equipped with a switching disc and a mechanical limit switch on the motor side. The switch signals generated by these mechanisms can be used to switch off the drive and to send out an acousti- cal or optical signal. www.ringfeder.com Gate Valve Handles Highly Abrasive Materials Vortex's Titan Pressure Valve is designed to address higher-pressure applications up to 100 psig and higher temperatures up to 660°F (350°C). The TPV gate is engineered for highly abrasive applica- tions and is claimed to require minimal maintenance over the life of the valve. Vortex said its patented rising-blade technology ensures an optimal seal and positive material shutoff with the use of lifting lugs, preventing the blade from jamming or packing material upon clo- sure, which can cause serious downtime. Unlike most knife gates, the Vortex TPV contains a replaceable seat that can sig- nificantly increase the life of the valve. The fully bonneted slide gate has cast- ductile iron flanges with a hardened 440C stainless steel blade and seat. Flanges match No.125/150 ANSI mounting pattern with through holes and blind tapped holes. A double acting air cylinder opens and closes the valve, and optional metering controls are available. www.vortexvalves.com EMJ_pg138-141_EMJ_pg138-141 6/2/14 5:09 PM Page 140
