He served as the senior independent director until May 2013 when he was appointed interim chairman. He is the for- mer CEO of BP. Duluth Metals Ltd . appointed Kelly J. Osborne as its president and CEO. Prior to his appointment, he was senior vice-president, underground operations (Indonesia) with Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold. Also, Vern Baker has resigned as president of Duluth, a position he held since July 2010. Baker will continue working for and assisting Duluth until August 1, and has agreed to continue representing Duluth on the Twin Metals Technical Committee beyond August 1. Osborne will replace Tom Pugsley who will be resigning from the Twin Metals Board of Directors. Göran Kördel has been appointed CIO for the Boliden Group. Most recently, He has been running his own con- sultancy firm, Nordwise Management. Yamana Gold announced Daniel Racine has joined the company as senior vice president, Canadian operations and mine planning and development. Most recently, he was the president and COO for Brigus Gold Corp. Mechel OAO appointed Andrey Slivchenko as the CFO, replacing Stanislav Ploschenko. Prior to his appointment, he worked as executive director and then CEO of OJSC Pharmacy Chain 36.6. Pan American Silver Corp . announced that its chairman and founder, Ross Beaty, was awarded the Vale Medal for Meritorious Contributions to Mining at the annual gala awards dinner of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) held in con- junction with the CIM's annual convention. The Vale Medal is awarded annually as a mark of distinction and recognition to a person who has made a meritorious and practical contribution of outstanding importance to the mining and metallur- gical industry of Canada. Ivanhoe Mines appointed Mark Farren as executive vice president of operations. Orbite Aluminae Inc . hired Bruno Bibeau as plant man- ager. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Bibeau has held several senior positions with major companies, such as sector manager, operations, at ArcelorMittal, and production manager and technical manager at res- olute, forest products. McEwen Mining Inc . announced the resignation of Ian Ball, president. Ball is departing after nine years to pur- sue new opportunities, however, he will continue to work with McEwen Mining to ensure an orderly transition. Santa Fe Gold Corp . appointed Frank G. Mueller as interim CFO and corporate secretary. Mueller is replacing Michael Martinez, and the current corporate secretary, Ryan Carson. Prior to joining Santa Fe in 2010 as assistant comptroller, Mueller served for six years as the senior business man- ager for two divisions of Cornell Company. Probe Mines Ltd . announced that Yves Dessureault has been appointed COO, replacing Michael Petrina, who has decided to leave the company. Dessureault previ- ously held leadership positions with Rio Tinto PLC and Hatch Ltd., and more recently was a partner at BBA Inc. where he was leading their Toronto operations. South Boulder Mines appointed Chief Executive Paul Donaldson as managing director. Eco Oro Minerals Corp . appointed Anna Stylianides as interim president and CEO. Stylianides replaces Joao Carrelo. Carrelo has also resigned as a direc- tor of Eco Oro. American Vanadium appointed Brett Whalen as non-executive chairman. Whalen is vice president at Dundee Corp. Sundance Resources Ltd . appointed Alan Rule as CFO. He joins Sundance from Paladin Energy Ltd., where he has been CFO since July 2012. Nickel Inc . appointed Patricia Tirschmann as principal nickel geologist. Most recently, she served for six years as vice president, exploration, for Continental Nickel Ltd. ABM Resources NL added Louis Rozman to the board of directors as a non-executive director. Rozman was nominated as an interim director to ABM by Pacific Road Capital Management Pty Ltd. (Pacific Road Capital) under the recently executed Share Subscription Agreement between ABM and Pacific Road Capital. Primero Mining Corp . appointed Renaud Adams president and COO. He has 20 years of experience in the mining industry and since November 2011, has served as COO. Basil Read appointed two senior executives, Khathutshelo Mapasa as executive director, mining; and Mfezeko Gwazube as director, special projects. Prior to joining Basil Read, Mapasa was the principal process engineer and head of loss prevention, responsible for techno-eco- nomic governance and support for the De Beers Group operations and projects in South Africa and Botswana. Most recently, Gwazube worked for the National Department of Public Works where he was responsible for the management of the Infrastructure Programme of DPW and Professional Services. Noront Resources Ltd . hired Colin Webster as vice pres- ident, sustainability. Previously, he was with Goldcorp Inc. as the director of aboriginal, government and com- munity relations, for the Canada and U.S. regions. AMEC appointed Jeff Reilly as group president of strat- egy and business development. He will be a member of the AMEC Group Management Team. Reilly joins AMEC from Phillips 66, where he led both the projects organi- zation and was chief procurement officer. Cummins Power Generation Inc . announced that Kimberly Watson has joined the Power Systems Business Leadership Team as global sales director. Prior to joining Cummins, Watson managed businesses in the building materials segment, managing both commercial and residential markets for Owens Corning and CertainTeed. Kiska Metals Corp . appointed Grant Ewing as president, CEO and director. President of the Dominican Republic Danilo Medina named Pelegrin Castillo, former president of the House of Representatives Commission of Mines and Energy, as the new minister of mines and energy. Metso announced Terry J. Wilkins has been promoted to senior vice president, Canada and the U.S. He began his career with Metso 39 years ago and has held several leadership positions, most recently as vice president and global key accounts manager. MDN Inc . announced Claude Dufresne as president and CEO. Dufresne was responsible for the sales and marketing of ferro-niobium produced by the Niobec mine from 2001 to 2012. Andreas Evertz took over as CEO of Schenck Process. He succeeds Dr. Jochen Weyrauch. Most recently, Evertz served as an executive board member of Sandvik and many years as CEO of Walter AG.
