asset. "If we find we have poor perform- ing assets or assets with a lot of losses, we will focus on that," Wesner said. "We want the lowest total cost of ownership [TCO] and maximize total cost of opera- tion. Understanding how an asset is being operated is also important. Problems might relate to how the equip- ment was originally designed. If a mine invested in inexpensive equipment, asset performance will probably not be as good as expected." 96 E&MJ; • JUNE 2014 www.e-mj.com PERFORMANCE OPITMIZATION COMPANY PROFILE-PAID ADVERTISEMENT Phoenix Products Company Inc. designs and manufactures superior lighting fixtures for some of the world's harshest environments and has been serving the mining industry since the 1950s. After years of constant lamp replacement, a large mining equipment com- pany commissioned Phoenix to design shock- resistant fixtures for use on their heavy equip- ment. The design of the resulting fixture is still in use today! Today, Phoenix serves many international mining companies by continuing to engineer and perfect its patented designs. Phoenix offers an impressive line of LED fixtures, which allow customers to dramatically increase lifespan, decrease maintenance costs and significantly reduce energy con- sumption. Additionally, all Phoenix fixtures are supported with outstanding customer service and technical expertise. Phoenix lights are designed, engineered and manufactured in the USA with a focus on quality and durability. The new SturdiLED™ Series is a great example of the heavy duty composition of a Phoenix light fixture. Phoenix uses a marine-grade die cast alu- minum housing that is both anodized and has a powder coat finish for added protection against corrosion. The rugged shock mount base delivers durability that can stand up to shock and vibration from the harshest appli- cations. The SturdiLED also utilizes a replaceable, impact-resistant and UV-stable lens, as well as a conformal coated circuit board and fully potted driver (AC only). "This fixture epitomizes the durability that everyone has come to know with Phoenix. We have analyzed the most demanding environ- ments in the world and designed the SturdiLED to meet the challenges that these fixtures encounter," said Yazi Fletcher, chief technical officer for Phoenix. The SturdiLED LED floodlight offers an AC or DC driver with multiple output options ranging from 1600 to 2900 lumens. The two optical packages, 28° and 45°, accommodate a variety of applications including shovels, blast hole drills, cranes, off-road haulers, util- ity and emergency vehicles, loaders, bulk handling equipment, towers, and many other demanding mining applications. The SturdiLED carries a five-year limited warranty. The fixture is ETL listed to UL 1598 and 1598A, IP67 rated and CE Certified. The floodlight is 18W-37W and replaces up to 100W HID floodlights. As is typical with Phoenix fixtures, the SturdiLED was designed to be easy to repair in the field. Numerous repair parts are available for purchase. A Deutsch connector is also offered on DC mod- els for ease of installation. The SturdiLED Series provides significant maintenance reduction, energy savings and instant-on lighting to reduce downtime.
