SUPPLIERS REPORT APRIL 2016 • E&MJ; 77 www.e-mj.com Conventional Truck Haulage," p. 32, for a detailed description of the company's latest conveyor concept.] Cost Analysis for Magnetic Mill-liner Installations Eriez is now offering customers the op- portunity to determine if they can save money by installing a state-of-the-art magnetic mill liner in their ball mill ap- plications. Eriez said its experts will gather relevant data from customers and rapidly return a computerized cost-sav- ings projection. Upon request, Eriez also provides free plant audits to help custom- ers uncover additional proft-generating improvements. "We created this special program to prove how magnetic mill liners are a more economical choice overall than typical heavier liners," said Jose Marin, Eriez's director of minerals and materials. "Their innovative design combines the best qual- ities of typical steel and magnetic liners to reduce or eliminate installation, main- tenance and replacement expenses." Eriez said its magnetic mill liner, a wear-resistant steel-encased magnet, de- livers consistent and improved grinding effciency and mill throughput while re- ducing energy consumption. Eriez custom designs liners to suit customers' specifc needs and provides a guaranteed service life with each liner. The magnet holds the metal magnetic liner to the shell and retains ball chips and magnetic minerals to form a solid protection layer, which serves as the wear liner. Since the ball chips and magnetic minerals are retained, the liner lasts for years without any maintenance. Eriez claims the quality, longevity and performance of magnetic mill liners have been proven through installations in more than 600 applications through- out the mining industry worldwide. The Magnetic Mill Liner with the longest ser- vice life on record is 14 years, according to the company. MTU Licenses Chinese Firm to Build, Sell 4000 Series Diesel Engines MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH, a subsidiary of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, and Chi- na Yuchai International Limited's main operating subsidiary, Guangxi Yuchai Ma- chinery Company Ltd. signed an agree- ment to set up a 50/50 joint venture for licensed production of MTU diesel en- gines in China. Each party will invest 75 million RMB (about 10.5 million Euro) in the joint venture. The joint venture will be based at GYMCL's primary manufacturing facil- ities in Yulin City, Guangxi Province, in southern China and is expected to begin production in 2017. The joint venture will produce MTU Series 4000 diesel engines compliant with China Tier 3 emission standards with power outputs ranging from 1,400 to 3,490 kW, primarily for the Chinese off-highway market. The joint venture engines will be mar- keted by GYMCL and MTU Suzhou within China and by MTU and its subsidiaries exclusively outside China. From 2020, GYMCL's sales territory will be extended to selected countries in Southeast Asia including Vietnam, Thailand and Malay- sia. After a ramp-up phase of 3 to 5 years, the scope of the joint venture might, sub- ject to further discussion, be extended to research and development activities as well as potentially direct sales from the joint venture to the customer. DISPATCH Replaces Existing FMS at Mission Mine Modular Mining Systems' DISPATCH 6 Fleet Management system (FMS) has been chosen to replace the current Leica/ Jigsaw system at Asarco's Mission mine in the southwest U.S. The Mission mine is part of the Mis- sion Complex, which also contains the Ei- senhower, Pima, Mineral Hill, and South San Xavier properties, and North San Xavier mine, in Sahuarita, Arizona. In operation since 1961 and with a re- serve life extending to 2033, the Mission open-pit copper mine reported copper concentrate production of 133.9 million lb for 2014. In conjunction with the DISPATCH 6 FMS, Mission will implement Modular's ProVision 3 Machine Guidance solution for drills, shovels and loaders. To augment the capabilities of the FMS, the mine has also selected the Prestart, Blend- ing, Lineup Management, Fuel Service, Crusher, Water Truck, and Speed Manage- ment, add-on modules. The technologies will be utilized on nearly 40 trucks, drills, shovels, loaders and auxiliary units. The mine, located in close proximity to Modular's headquarters and the prov- ing grounds operated by Modular's par- ent company, Komatsu, will also become an instrumental development site for Modular. "Modular has a long-standing relation- ship with Asarco and Grupo Mexico, and we are excited about expanding the rela- tionship to the Mission mine," said Greg Lanz, general manager, North America, at Modular. The simultaneous commissioning of the DISPATCH FMS and ProVision 3 solu- tion is slated to begin in mid-2016. Dr. Ulrich Dohle, president of the Rolls-Royce Power Systems Business Unit, and Yan Ping, chairman of the board of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery, unveil an MTU Series 4000 engine after signing a joint venture agreement.
