The Fluke 438-II simplifi es the process of motor performance diagnosis by pro- viding analysis data for both the electri- cal and mechanical characteristics of the motor while it is in operation. Using proprietary algorithms, the 438-II mea- sures the three-phase current and voltage waveforms and compares them against rated specifi cations to calculate motor mechanical performance. The analysis is presented in simple readouts, making it easy to gauge the operating performance and determine if adjustments are need- ed before failures cause an operational shutdown. The analyzer also provides measurements to determine a motor's effi ciency and mechanical power under operating load conditions. These mea- sures allow maintenance engineers to determine the motor's in-service operat- ing power compared to its rated power to determine if the motor is operating in overloaded condition or, inversely, if it is oversized for the application. www.fl uke.com Defl ection Elbows Now Available in Cast Aluminum The cast aluminum line of Smart Elbow defl ection elbows from HammerTek is now offered in tube and pipe sizes from 1.5 in. (3.8 cm) up to 12 in. (30.5 cm) in diameter. Engineered for dilute-phase and dense-phase pneumatic conveying, the defl ection elbows prevent miner- als, aggregate, sand, iron ore, and other abrasive materials from impacting the el- bow wall, and causing wear, failure and downtime. The elbows feature a spherical chamber that protrudes partially beyond the desired 90º or 45º pathway, which causes a ball of pellets suspended in air to rotate, gently defl ecting incoming ma- terial around the bend without impacting the elbow wall or generating heat. Other defl ection elbows, offered in varying size ranges up to 18 in. (45.7 cm), are avail- able in cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel and specialized alloys. www.hammertek.com
