With intuitive graphics, Mosaic's operators can now understand the production data in their HMI and are able to make more informed decisions. Rather than a slew of numbers, the new system showcases useful information. Additionally, the new system pro- vides a simplifi ed presentation that uti- lizes colors more strategically. Objects are purposefully designed to blend into the background so only important data stands out. Alarm criticality is commu- nicated by various color and shape com- binations established by the PlanPAx library. This prevents unwanted noise so data can be processed quicker, further improving operator productivity along the way. "Operators now have vital information available at their fi ngertips — information that any employee can quickly under- stand and react to," Johansen said. "Our long-term goal is to ease training and re- duce downtime with a standard system program across all our facilities." The results, cautioned Rockwell, are specifi c to Mosaic's use of Rockwell Auto- mation products and services in conjunc- tion with other products. Specifi c results may vary for other customers. Glencore Offers Online Cell-size Calculator Glencore Technology recently intro- duced what it describes as the fi rst accurate online calculator for estima- ting which Jameson Cell is appropriate for a fl otation circuit. The result shows the size of the Jameson Cell installa- tion needed to deliver any given tar- get concentrate. The free online calculator uses key parameters such as commodity and cell duty to decide what calculations are needed. According to Glencore, it's then remarkably thorough as it executes them. It takes specifi c feed and concentrate grades, recovery targets and percentages of solids and builds each stage through roughers, cleaners and recleaners, said the Australia-based company. The result is a powerful indicator of what the recommendation could contrib- ute to a fl otation circuit and to the down- stream fl owsheet. It reveals what type of Jameson Cells would deliver the outcome and how many bubble-generating down- comers would be required. While it can't serve as a specifi ca- tion without human interaction, not- ed Glencore, it can help direct infor- mation-gathering, planning and show what's possible. Virginia Lawson, Jameson Cell tech- nology manager, said, "This is the fi rst time an accurate online estimation tool has been delivered to the market, and it's incredibly insightful. I think many com- panies have been coy to share this depth of information, but there's no loss provid- ed the indicator is meaningful."
