NEWS - PEOPLE IN THE NEWS Thompson Creek Metals Company Inc. announced that Kevin Loughrey, chairman and CEO, will be retiring. He plans to continue in his current role until a replacement is named and remain with the company in any capacity necessary following his retirement to ensure a stable transition. Teck Resources Ltd. has appointed Keith Stein vice president of project development; Bill Fleming vice president of engineering, projects and business improvement, coal; Robin Sheremeta vice president of operations, coal; and Bob Kelly vice president of health and safety. Kinross Gold Corp. has appointed Tony S. Giardini executive vice president and CFO. Novagold Resources Inc. announced that Gil Leathley, senior vice president and COO, will retire at the end of November. He will continue to serve as a senior adviser to the president and CEO, and as a director of the company and Donlin Gold LLC. Tony S. Giardini Nevada Gold & Casinos, Inc. has appointed Michael P. Shaunnessy president and CEO. Prophecy Platinum Corp. has appointed Greg Johnson president and CEO. Dalradian Resources Inc. announced that John McCombe, COO, has resigned from his executive role. He will stay on as an adviser for several months to see certain studies through to completion. American Manganese Inc. has accepted the resignation of Kenneth Wright as CFO. The company has appointed Shaheem Ali as acting CFO. Chalice Gold Mines Ltd. has appointed Bill Bent managing director. Dr. Hans von Michaelis Michael Clark Goldgroup Mining Inc. has appointed Dustin VanDoorselaere vice president of operations. The company also appointed Chester F. Millar chairman of the company. Dr. Hans von Michaelis has been appointed CEO and president, and will continue to serve on the board of directors. Michael Clark has been appointed CFO. Copper Mountain Mining Corp. announced that Jim O'Rourke, CEO, has been inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame. Candidates for induction into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame must be individuals who have demonstrated outstanding lifetime achievements to the benefit of the Canadian and/or world mineral industry. He was selected under the category of "Building a Corporation," which relates to his commitJim O'Rourke ment and dedication to the mining industry during his long and successful career. O'Rourke played a key role in the development of four mines in the province of British Columbia and has been involved with the mining industry for nearly five decades. His long list of noteworthy projects has injected billions of dollars of investment income and capital expenditures into the country, resulting in significant economic and social prosperity for many Canadian citizens. Prophecy Coal Corp. has appointed of Bailiikhuu Dambachultem country adviser, Damdindjav Davaajav project manager and Bekzod Kasimov business development manager. Eriez recently announced that Dan Norrgran passed away in October. He was hired in 1985 as a technical representative in the sales department, coming from Anaconda Minerals in Tucson, Ariz., where he served as technical manager‒beneficiation applications and supervisor of the Mineral Beneficiation Laboratory. Prior to that, he worked with the U.S. Bureau of Mines in Twin Cities, Minn., as a minerals engineer. He participated in Dan Norrgran the engineering development of high intensity magnetic separators and developed a novel process for treating silver-manganese ores with high-intensity magnetics. He was a prolific writer, authoring dozens of technical papers on magnetic separation advancements which were published in professional trade journals around the world. Dan was employed at Eriez for 27 years, most recently serving as manager of the Minerals & Materials Processing Division. He was a respected member of several professional associations including the Canadian Institute of Metallurgy, the International Minerals Association and the Society of Mining Engineers, where he served as National Committee chairman. In 2004, he received Eriez' highest honor Person of the Year. LOESCHE ThermoProzess GmbH has appointed Michael Nisch director of sales of Thermo Process Technology. Nucor Corp. announced that CEO Daniel R. DiMicco will be leaving the company at the end of the year. Current President and COO John J. Ferriola will become CEO. Vista Gold Corp. has appointed Brent Murdoch general manager of the company's Mt. Todd gold project in Northern Territory, Australia. Tintina Resources Inc. has appointed Bob Jacko vice president of operations. Nautilus Minerals Inc. announced that Mike Johnston, vice president for strategic development and exploration, has accepted the position of interim president and CEO. Australian Power and Gas Co. Ltd. has appointed Joanne Shatrov company secretary. She will act as joint company secretary with David Franks. Baja Mining Corp. has appointed Kyoung Jin Park COO. The 2012 Nordic Exploration Award has been awarded to Anglo American Geologist Jim Coppard for his significant contribution to the renaissance of exploration and mining in the Nordic region; recognizing and developing the IOCG model within the Kiruna District, Sweden; his discovery of the Rakkurijärvi copper-gold deposit in Northern Sweden; and his discovery of the Sakatti copper-nickel-PGE deposit in Northern Finland. Michael Nisch Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. has appointed Dan Easton vice president of environment to lead the Pebble Project's environmental program, including permitting and environmental studies. Mark Cutifani Khanyisile Kweyama The Chamber of Mines of South Africa has elected Mark Cutifani, CEO of AngloGold Ashanti, president of the Chamber of Mines following the end of Dr. Xolani Mkhwanazi's term of office. Khanyisile Kweyama, executive director of Anglo American South Africa, was elected vice president of the Chamber of Mines. Normet UK has appointed Sergio Matias technical manager for underground construction and mining. Roskill Information Services Ltd. has promoted Robert Baylis managing director. He will also continue in his current role of manager-minor metals research. Alison Saxby has been promoted to director and managerindustrial minerals research.
