The new TMdrive-70e2 features lower cost, higher power level, reduced footprint, and enhanced safety features. The IEGT-based drive is water-cooled and designed for operation with induction or synchronous motors. It operates at up to 3,300 Vac, and offers 3-level Pulse Width Modulated output power at levels up to 36,000 kVA. The inverter output frequency is variable from 0 to 75 Hz, (up to 90 Hz with derating) allowing operation with a wide variety of motor designs. The new drive has enhanced safety features meeting IEC 618005-2 (Safety Integration Level 2) and ISO 13849 (Category 3). These requirements are met with independent gate command lockouts via two hardware inputs. www.tmeic.com www.e-mj.com Mechanical sealing system specialist John Crane has unveiled details of its new Type 5840 slurry seal designed for applications in mining and mineral processing. The new seal, according to the company, offers a cost-effective alternative to packing and provides all of the advantages normally found on heavy-duty seal designs. These are provided in a unit that is geared toward the higher volume requirements associated with general mining applications. Inclusion of robust primary and secondary seal face materials, and an optimized running face design, also make the Type 5840 well-suited for general-purpose slurry and abrasive liquid applications. Rugged construction, a non-clogging cone spring design and simple maintenance requirements help ensure long life and high reliability, and the Type 5840 is hydraulically balanced to ensure optimum performance. It can be fitted to most fluid-handling equipment and features key components, which are fully interchangeable with other seals in the same size group. www.johncrane.co.uk Expanded Range of Dust Control Spray Rings Dust Control Technology has introduced four new sizes of its DustBoss DB-RTM dust suppression ring, giving bulk material handlers a wider range of options to suit specific conveyor sizes and discharge flows. Designed for mounting at the end of conveyor belts to support dust suppression at the discharge point, the four new ring sizes include 30-, 48-, 54- and 72-in. (76-, 122-, 137- and 183-cm) models. The stainless steel rings are tested to withstand pressures of up to 900 psi, with brass atomizing nozzles that deliver millions of 50- to 200-micron droplets per minute. Now available in nine standard sizes, from 17 in. (43 cm) to 100 in. (254 cm) in JUNE 2013 • E&MJ; 161
